U.S. Patent Office to Reexamine Blackboard's Patent

The request by Desire2Learn for a reexamination of the e-learning patent given to Blackboard Inc. has been granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Blackboard filed a lawsuit against Desire2Learn in 2006 for infringement of its patent. Both companies develop software for education and e-learning.
